sunday sound sadhana:

evenings of yogic sound, song & silence
w/ ann dyer

Sundays, 6-7:30pm Janu 12-Feb 16

After realizing the monumental premiere performance of the 70-person Vak Choir in Vak: Song of Becoming at the YBCA this fall, Director Ann Dyer returns to Sunday night chanting at MYoga.  The first of of her six-week Sunday Sound Sadhana series of 2014, this session is a sweet, simple, and relaxed coming together in song and silence, ecstasy and contemplation.  Together we will explore how raga, mantra and naada yoga can expand and deepen our sense of self and the world around us. No experience necessary, everyone welcome.  First step for newcomers to becoming a Vak Choir member!
$110 for Six-Week Session.  $22 drop-in.  register here

held in her home in Oakland
Feb 4 - Mar 13, Tuesdays, 5:00-6pm    Limit: 6 people register here.

Learn to sing the mesmerizing, soul-stirring classical music of North India in the intimacy of this small, supportive group. Each six-week course includes the rudiments of North Indian classical vocalization, including the basics of vocal production, proper breathing, singing in tune, and characteristic Indian vocal ornamentations.  You will learn elements intrinsic to classical  Indian music including sargam (Indian solfage), raga (the compositional basis of Indian music) and traditional vocal ornamentations.  Each six week session focusses on learning different raga and songs written within its form.  Open to beginners and more experienced students. Limited to six students to allow for individual instruction.
